Who I am

My name is José Miguel Sánchez Fernández, alias [EX3]. Since I was child, at 3 years old, I fully focused on arts discipline, showing natural skills for complex drawings and a lot of imagination that I continually portrayed on paper. During my school years my parents wanted that I focused on achieve a career as artists in the future and they sended me to some art schools as extra scholar activities. My last art studies was on 2003, when I coursed  an Art Degree on high school.

Before the Art Degree, at 16 years old (1999), when arrived my first computer, I started to interest in computer programming thanks an old GW-BASIC 3.33 programming book from my uncle. One year later, I discovered Visual Basic 6.0, then an easy way to learn programming skills with visual results on Windows systems, and in the same time, discover DIV Games Studio 2, one of the best and most popular indie game develoment environment, tools and language in these years. After two years of self-learning and playing making some small projects related and not with videogames, I finally decided to switch from artist to programmer, focusing in mind on videogames as professional goal.

Mostly autodidact, during the first years (2001 - 2010) I learned about game development, under Visual Basic 6.0 and DirectX 8.1, developing my own game framework, dx_lib32 Project, and several attempts of my own 2D platform game engine, TLSA Engine. Years later (since 2007) I jumped to C# and XNA 4.0, and Flash and Action Script 3 via Flixel framework, and today (since 2017) I'm working with Unity.

In my spare time I continue working in side projects related with videogames, like an Unity framework with integration services and tools designed for multiplatform-single player games, Argos.Framework, and a little game prototypes just for fun.

P.D.: My other interests are photography and travels. You can explore my photographing work and places I visited on my Flickr and Instagram profiles.
